STATEN ISLAND KOREAN VETERANS' MEMORIAL
For six years, "Charlie's Angels," a group of eight Korean War Veterans living in Staten Island, have cleaned and cared for the Korean War Veterans' Memorial Monument at Ocean Terrace. The monument boasts flowers, neatly trimmed hedges, and velvet grass around a tall stone embedded with a plaque. The local veterans' chapter paid for the monument's installation, but it's the TLC of Charlie's Angels that keeps it in fighting shape.

SALT MARSH NATURE CENTER YOGA GROUP
The Salt Marsh Nature Center in Marine Park, Brooklyn, is a well-known center for environmental education and youth activities. But since September 2000, one group of creative-thinking park lovers has been using the beautiful seaside setting of the Nature Center for yoga and meditation, linking yoga's philosophy of oneness with nature to the presence of nature itself. Every two weeks, Dr. Gail Levine leads a unique yoga class for as many as 40 participants. The class begins with a warmup on the lawn facing Gerritsen Creek, followed by a 25-minute walk around the nature trail with three stops to perform yoga poses. Following the walk, participants return to the Nature Center for more yoga. The group enjoys being with nature, exercise, and meditation, all within a few miles of the bustle of downtown Brooklyn.
