HIGHLIGHTS IN ASTORIA/LIC WATERFRONT PARKS

* 

Convened and developed an alliance dedicated to enlivening and improving the waterfront parks, now known as the Astoria-LIC Waterfront Parks Alliance. The group meets monthly to develop and implement their vision.

Meeting People

* 

Started Astoria/LIC Earth Day and Arbor Day Mini-Grants Program to support programs and activities in Astoria/LIC Waterfront Parks. Over 16 projects ranging from service to celebration have been supported so far!

Four People

* 

Organized the first multi-site shoreline cleanup on the Astoria/LIC Waterfront which is now an ongoing community project. Over 120 people attended the first cleanup in Fall of 2005.

Shoreline Cleanup

* 

In January 2006, the proposed Queens East River and North Shore Greenway went public! We regularly run bike tours of the waterfront parks and the proposed Greenway to familiarize people with the route and introduce people to the incredible waterfront parks.

People and Bikes

* 

Introduced the new Coastal Classroom program providing people of all ages opportunities to learn about water ecology through fun, hands on activities on the East River.

Supported the development of www.astoriawaterfront.org, the first and only website dedicated to the Astoria/LIC Waterfront. Please visit us there!
