GET INVOLVED IN HISTORIC HARLEM PARKS

The Historic Harlem Catalyst Project and its partners are involved in many ongoing activities, which support local parks and their users. For information on how to get involved, click on any of the following:

Grants
Partnership for Parks offers a mini-grant program, to help local groups grow and support their parks.

Workshops
Public workshops on the topics of leadership, fundraising and group development are available through Partnerships for Parks.

"Friends of Parks" Groups
Catalyst provides technical assistance to volunteer groups dedicated to caring for their parks. These groups discuss goals for their parks, plan events and advocate for their park. Contact your local group to volunteer.

Public Programs in Parks
Programs in are a great way to reach a wider audience and build awareness of your organization. For more information contact the Partnerships for Parks Outreach Coordinator at 212-408-0214.

Farmers' Markets
The Morningside Park Community Market provides fresh fruit and vegetables from New York State farms at reasonable prices. Residents around Jackie Robinson Park are organizing Grassroots Market, a community market for their park. Volunteers are needed for both efforts.

Free Concerts, Puppet Shows and Arts Programming
Programs sponsored by City Parks Foundation include concerts, dance, and basketball tournaments. Other events are sponsored through our partners and can be found on their websites.Find out more from the Historic Harlem Parks Summer Calendar

Harlem Happenings Newsletters

Park Recreation Centers
Jackie Robinson, Marcus Garvey and Morningside Parks Recreation Centers offer classes, Afterschool programs and recreational activities for all ages. Activities include quilting classes for seniors, African Dance and computer classes for youth. Classes are low-cost or free. Contact your local recreation center to find out more.
